Welcome to

July 3, 2018

This is the first post on this blog. I am making it not only to introduce myself and this website, but also to test functionality.

My name is Erik Letson. I am currently employed in two jobs in the technology industry: I am a programmer and systems administrator at Procryptix, LLC, a blockchain technology and mining company, and I am also a computer and mobile device technician at Twintronix, an electronics store. I was formerly self-employed as an independent game designer (I have made about a dozen games). Before that, I worked as a work-study at my alma mater, Calhoun Community College, and before even that I worked at the Moulton, Alabama Wal-Mart, in the electronics department. On my own time I maintain, a website focused on news and information about free and open source games. I am a strong proponent of free and open source software, and I endeavor to use it wherever possible in my own life and to teach others about it. I use GNU/Linux as my daily driver; I have Kubuntu 16.04 on my work laptop and Arch Linux on my home desktop. I have much private and professional experience using and maintaining Linux systems.

This website is meant to be a place for me to store any writings I do about topics which interest me. It will likely be technology-focused, as my own main interests are in that subject. I will most likely be writing about free software, GNU/Linux usage, my own career, video games, and ocassionally my take on recent tech-related news. I may also write about other things on here. I hope you find something on this site that interests you!

I am also on some social media sites. I use Twitter, and I am also on Steemit, a blockchain-powered social media platform. My GitHub page is here, and on there you can find most things that I have programmed and released, both on the job and on my own. I have a Facebook page, but I seldom use it. I am also on Mastodon, but again I rarely use it. I intend to set up a LinkedIn profile soon as well. If you wish to contact me, the best way is through email: erik (at) chowhowse (dot) com is the best one to use.

Thanks for reading, see you next time!
