Seed Starting Success

February 17, 2019

I mentioned in my last post that I was starting some seeds indoors. I am quite happy to report that I have already grown successful sprouts!

The seeds that have already sprouted include the cabages (they are indeed fast-growing!), the marigolds, and both of my lettuce varieties. Not every cell I planted of each has sprouted yet, but I have already been successful by my standards, and the cabbage in particular has already produced 10 good-looking sprouts out of just 4 planted cells! Additionally, the other three sprouted plants all came from seeds that I mentioned in my last post were almost 3 years old. Seems like they were still good!

The onions and peppermint have yet to grow, but I am in no hurry of course. This has been, for me, a wildly successful and surprisingly early sprouting off of these seeds. I have already purchased some deeper, plastic planters that I am going to transfer the sprouts to in the next day or so. The cabbages will need it before anything else will because they grow so quickly.

So far this is shaping up to be a good batch of plantable sprouts! Here's hoping the rest of the gardening year goes just as well!
